How the Open Tag Directory works
The Open Tag Directory provides a "directory style" interface to popular social bookmarking websites. The Open Tag Directory or OTD could be considered a "meta" directory because it combines the data from numerous popular social bookmark and tagging websites together. OTD then sorts the collection of tag data by popularity.
If you have a specific tag in mind you'd like to browse then use our Search Tags search box found on the right side of each and every page.
Supplementing our traditional "directory style" interface the Open Tag Directory also offers a number of constantly fluxing "buzz" and "news" directory entry points.
What's Buzzing is derived from the publicly available Yahoo Buzz. This data is updated daily and is based upon the number of searches seen by Yahoo.
What's News is a list of the most common news terms based upon data gathered from CBS, CNN, Reuters and Yahoo news stories. This data is calculated by the Open Tag Directory and is updated hourly.
What's News + Buzzing is a list of the most popular news terms based upon data gathered from Yahoo's Highest Rated, Most Emailed and Most Viewed news stories. This data is calculated by the Open Tag Directory and is updated hourly.
