1Backwardation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 2 Citations Backwardation is a futures market term. It describes a situation where the amount of money required for future delivery of an item is lower than the amount required for immediate delivery of that item. For example, immediate delivery of gold may cost $1,000 an ounce, whereas delivery in two months only costs $900 an ounce, with that $900 to be paid at time of delivery. It is a peculiar situation, because no rational person would buy gold for $1,000 an ounce today, when they could enter into a contract to take delivery for $900 in two months time, except when they do not believe their counterparty will be able to deliver at the $900 forward price. Thus backwardation is a signal that the item in question is in short supply., delicious.com

Minyanville - Market Commentary, Investing Ideas, Global Finance, The Economy 1 Citation When GOFO goes negative (which will likely happen tomorrow or early next week), then gold will be in backwardation, something that last happened after the Washington Agreement was announced in 1999 and there was a mad dash for physical gold by shorts., delicious.com

Minyanville > Minyan Mailbag: Gold Backwardation? 1 Citation With gold currently rallying in all fiat currencies (it hit another new high in pounds just yesterday as you can see in the chart below), I suspect gold?s current backwardation says more about the intense physical demand we?re seeing. Also, the doubt as to whether counterparties can actually make good on promises of gold (see the potential for a squeeze in the Dec contract here and note that ?first notice? is this Friday for those that may take delivery) as well as a general loss of confidence in the fiat dollar-based global monetary system. All this rather than just fears about the value of the dollar itself vs. other fiat confetti., delicious.com

1 Citation I simply do not understand paying absurd premiums for gold or silver coins.
Note that GoldMoney is physical gold, not paper gold. Turk takes delivery, and stores it. The vaults are audited. If you want to own physical gold, this is one of the best ways to do so.
I reiterate I Like Gold Here.
For the sake of full disclosure, I will point out that I have an account and a relationship with GoldMoney. And finally, I will point out, the relationship does not affect the price anyone pays or receives when buying or selling., delicious.com
