Rendered Speechless

Rendered Speechless May 15th, 2008 by Blog Manager Seldom in my 47 years have I been rendered speechless, yet as I try to formulate this letter, I can not seem to think of adequate words to convey my deep gratitude for the caring and tireless folks at Penn Foundation who have been working with my son since early March of this year. Please accept and convey my humble and sincere thanks to the may people who took great pains with my son, and with me.  In addition to the fondness I?ll always, technorati.com

Unique Compliments for a Unique Counselor

Unique Compliments for a Unique Counselor May 19th, 2008 by Blog Manager My son?s inpatient counselor was Gregg.  What do I say about Gregg?  Gregg was tough on my son, painfully tough?  Exactly what my son needed, I think.  I truly believe that years from now, when all this lunacy is but a memory (I pray every day that we?ll get to that place), Gregg is the one person who my son will remember most fondly.  Like one of those high school teachers who pushed you so hard, you thought you?d expl, technorati.com

Haven?t Given Up

Haven?t Given Up April 29th, 2008 by Blog Manager I am still living the nightmare of my daughter being a heroin addict. When I think she has kicked it, it is back again. Once again, Penn Foundation has come through. We are approaching the four year mark soon. She has been to jail, rehab, halfway houses, recovery houses and started using again. Right now we are working closely with counselors and they are going ?full blast? helping her. After meeting with her counselor on Friday, I felt li, technorati.com

Letting Go Takes Love

1 Citation
Letting Go Takes Love April 11th, 2008 by Blog Manager I want to thank you for your sincere, diligent care and concern for my daughter.  She is fortunate to have had such an exceptionally competent staff helping her on this long road towards recovery. My daughter is now in the Recovery House and my husband has done errands for her the past 2 days.  I am fearful this is too much involvement; I told him to make arrangements to get her clunker of a car from the dealer in Quakertown where it i, technorati.com

March 4th, 2008 by Blog Manager Dear God: As you know, I?ve spent a good deal of my 47+ years on this planet wondering how many of the 10,000+/- people I?d meet during this lifetime would prove to be true - that is, sincere, caring, selfless. So far, I?ve met a few - very few, though - less in total than the fingers of one hand. Still, you know that I?ve chosen to hold onto the notion that such people are out there somewhere and that if/when I ever needed them, you?d send them to me. Of c, technorati.com

A Compliment From One Department to Another

A Compliment From One Department to Another May 23rd, 2008 by Blog Manager I just wanted to take a moment and express to you how good of an experience one of my clients had while he was here for inpatient treatment. This was his first true inpatient treatment.  Beatrice did a TREMENDOUS job in working with him and guiding him through those initial steps of his recovery.  Randy was instrumental in working with the county to get funding in place to allow this process to proceed.   I really fe, technorati.com

One of these days, I will start a ?Grey?s take on the Maudsley Method? series. Not because I think that it?s wrong or right, but just because I think it?s really interesting and have a lot to say about it. In the meantime though, I want to highlight a quote from Laura Collins? article, ?The size of the trigger or the speed of the bullet?? An eating disorder is not a sign of deep wounds, but some people do have deep wounds, and it makes recovery harder. I?m curious ? this this a ?duh? statem, technorati.com

My husband is truly, absolutely, my better half. He was pretty quiet on the way home from the Dr's office yesterday, which is unusual for him. In fact, while we were dating, I would often put the phone on speaker and leave the room. When I would come back - he would still be talking! J: Do you remember where you put that Remuda Ranch packet you received? E: Yes. J: I need it when we get home. E: OK. Once home, we ate lunch, pretty much in silence. I had seen the pain in his face, the frustrat, technorati.com
