Virtual Deckle Edge December 7, 2008

1 Citation
Posted by William J. Meyer in Jack's Post-Production. trackback Wshew. Today was a marathon of animation?my eyes are bleedin??it?s those darn RAM previews that suck the life out of a Sunday afternoon. Tomorrow night after work I should be able to wrap up scene ten. Just have to paint a crow and a beetle. -William, Director, technorati.com

Party, Schmarty

That darn party scene is the bane of my editorial existence. I was about to declare it ?picture locked? and post the requisite trinity of pics on the blog when I watched it one more time front to back and?growled. It just doesn?t feel right. I find in these situations it?s best to work on something else and reclaim some confidence from a different triumph and then look at the offending scene with fresh eyes. So I?m just gonna set it aside for today and work on some other Jack stuff. -William, Di, technorati.com

WiP: Let it Snow? November 19, 2008

Posted by William J. Meyer in Jack's Post-Production, Jack's Videos. trackback ?let it snow, let it flour.   Last winter I took some sweet pics on an icy day and kinda played around with how to incorporate them into the movie. I knew that I wanted to use the four seasons in some manner, but not until I removed an early scene did I realize the seasons would work as a transition, allowing us to jump ahead a year in the story and bridge the time needed for the titular house to be built. I wanted, technorati.com

Where Flowers Bloom November 16, 2008

1 Citation
Posted by William J. Meyer in Jack's Post-Production. trackback Today I worked on animating some of my sister Debbie?s paintings (one of those infinite zoom type things). I also trimmed the scene in which the sequence will appear. I thought I could finish the animation today. I was a fool. -William, Director, technorati.com

So I?m two shots away from finishing scene nine, working on shot VFX_009_Bathroom_003f in After Effects, and when I command-A to select all my layers and double tap U to reveal all the manipulated parameters I got this funny looking image of a diseased hand with a cluster of keyframe nodes. Then I decided to show you. If you?d like to make a little sense out of the color-coded arrows, they belong to the 3D disease layers partially consisting of the prosthetics that Matt created. Day For Night, Dry For Wet

OR: Time Ran Out, Hope This Works Right now I?m dealing with a decision to shoot a pickup for the storm scene the following day of the original shoot (and in the morning, instead of at night). The blown highlights proved to be a real drag. Luckily I had an alternate angle from the night shoot to save the day. Or night as the case may be. Also, the rain will be there, just not as robust as it was in my mind?s eye. -William, Director, technorati.com

Final Review

1 Citation
Last night Georgia, Jeff, Somekinda-vodka-beverage (which to my chagrin I initially mistook for Cherry Pepsi), and I had our final review of the film.Reactions were positive, which I am certainly grateful for. We did find a few places to tighten up the pace. The largest such cut will be some business during the kitchen scene. After concentrating on specific shots for so long, it?s certainly helpful to take the 8th Wonder of the World view and readjust my perspective. A couple scenes still need a, technorati.com
