I?ve been getting mixed signals. Well, mixed metaphors. I?ve been encountering them with what seems like increasing frequency in both my editing work and in a lot of what I?m reading elsewhere. Over the last week or so I?ve been keeping a record of any examples I happened to come across in the manuscripts I?ve been editing (a couple of which I?ll use here), and I?ve also just dug up a couple of other examples from the internet ? one from a well-known news site, the other from a random online ex, technorati.com
