Would You Rather Be Pittsburgh Or Detroit? 1 Citation Photo Credit: _G2 on Flickr Turns out it?s Pittsburgh. The Washington Post and the New York Times have been exploring Pittsburgh and Detroit and the differences and lessons from both experiences. These urban experiences are case studies in the contrast between urban areas taking advantage of next generation thinking, and those trapped in old thinking. The New York Times? article is a powerful profile of Pittsburgh: This is what life in one American city looks like after an indust, technorati.com

Die Form - Rose Au Couer Violet 1 Citation Gênero: Darkeletro, Post Industrial, Darkwave, Neoclássico Ano: 1994 País: França Comentário: Mais um trabalho desse projeto no mínimo perturbador.

1 Citation Took this around 94-95. The apartments are on Airlie street which had pretty much become a ghetto at that point in time. I can remember being quite young and there were young people and couples leaving places like Verdun and The Point to come out here for the offer of sexy and somewhat suburban living with the river nearby. It was an exciting time. But most of those buildings became run down slums, plain and simple. I have seen a lot of that in my lifetime, and I continue to see the same generic, technorati.com

12 Fantastic Photos of Japanese Factories 1 Citation Granted, delapidated post-industrial sites reclaimed by weather and vegetation look pretty cool, in a post-capitalist fantasy kind of a way. That said, really super-modern new factories with color-coded pipes, massive smoke and steam plumes, towering forms and space-age lighting make for differently photogenic sights. Just look at Bouncing Red Ball?s listicle of 12 Fantastic Photos of Japanese Factories . Ou favorite is probably the shot below by sielbleu : sielbleu/Flickr (via Nea, technorati.com

An open letter to America?s progressive billionaires 1 Citation Dear Mr. Buffet, Mr. Gates, Mr. Turner, Mr. Soros, Ms. Winfrey, and any other hyper-rich types with progressive political leanings: If this essay has, against all odds, somehow made its way to your desk, please, bear with me. It?s longish, but it winds eventually toward an exceedingly important conclusion. If you?ll give me a few minutes, I?ll do my best to reward your patience. _______________ In the 2008 election, Barack Obama won a landmark political victory on a couple of prominent them, technorati.com

Cute, Cuddly Maggie?s Organic Stuffed Penguin Made From Fabric Scraps 1 Citation I?ve long been a fan of Maggie?s Organics , and I lived in their tights when I was pregnant. Now Maggie?s is venturing into stuffed animals. Like their sock monkey , Maggie?s Organics Penguin is made from excess fabric and slight irregulars, including the hat made from tie dyed socks! Unlike Mattel, that claimed Barbie was going green by making accessories from fabric scraps, I trust Maggie?s because they have always been a Fair Trade and organic company. The "Post-Industrial" Economy - Eating Raccoon 1 Citation An interesting sign of the times. The collapse of Detroit is apparently ongoing, the city having lost half its population. Wildlife are roaming the streets, and a canny blues guitarist is cooking up some barbecued raccoon . While economic times are tough across Michigan as its people slog through a difficult and protracted deindustrialization, Beasley remains upbeat. Where one man sees a vacant lot, Beasley sees a buffet. "Starvation is cheap," he says as he prepares an afternoon lunch of, technorati.com
