Where I took this picture the lithology consists of fine "Innsbrucker Quarzphyllite", a mica-rich, dark schist. Plant Fossils from the Brennermesozoikum 1 Citation Today I am going to post some Fossils from the Brennermesozoikum on the Brenner Pass between Austria and Italy in the middle of the Alps. At this particular point where I found this samples the lithology consists of terrigene schistous anthracit-mica sediments perhaps originating from some intracontinental swampy area. Plant fossils are not very common at this site, but are occasionally found in the waste disposal sites of some (rather fruitless) attempts to mine for anthrazit in the last cent, technorati.com
