Multi-Card Extravaganza

1 Citation
In a lot of cases, I?m always more interested trying to innovate wacky new mechanics than trying to develop the game itself. In the end, the mechanic itself may not look very innovate as it essentially gets whittled down to something workable as a function of a game. Having said that, take a look at the card off to the left here. While it may look like a crudely drawn spider web, it actually has a bunch of information hidden within the web.... I'm pretty fascinated by games with hidden informat, technorati.com

In the Kingdom of the Blind

Today (October 28) is the day that Gerard Gerardson celebrated his birth. The illegitimate son of Roger Gerard of Rotterdam later went on to make something of a name for himself (literally) as Desiderius Erasmus. Among his musings was a collection of Greek and Latin adages first published in 1500 were refer today simply as ?Adagia? . By his death in 1536 he had compiled 4,658 adages, many of them still in common use today. One of my favorites, for many reasons, has always been: ?In the, technorati.com

Emerald City Confidential Review

"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Oz anymore." At least, not in the Oz you might remember from reading Frank L. Baum's original fantasy novel The Wizard of Oz, or from watching the classic 1939 musical starring Judy Garland as Dorothy. No, the Oz in Emerald City Confidential is a much grittier place, inspired by the film noir tradition of hard-nosed detectives, mob bosses and femmes fatales. read more, technorati.com

Emerald City Confidential

1 Citation
If there?s one thing you?ll remember after hearing the words Emerald City, then certainly it?s going to be The Wizard of Oz. Bringing back the magic of this place from years ago since Dorothy and her adventure, Emerald City Confidential now follows the plotline of post-war Oz, a thriving country not only in terms of culture and commerce, but also of greed and corruption too. The story of the game starts with a seemingly simple case given to a private investigator named Petra. At first, it, technorati.com

Gritty Gritty Emerald City

1 Citation
Let me be the first to offer a round of applause to the unstoppable Dave Gilbert. Three years into this game development gig, Dave has just published his third commercial title, Emerald City Confidential . It?s fantastic. The writing is witty and captivating, and the story never veers too far from its film noir roots (no small feat, in such a fantastical setting). The art is gorgeous, the voice acting is spot-on, and the puzzles will keep you coming back long after you think you should go to, technorati.com

Mythological Influences

1 Citation
Ancient mythology has been a theme of my recent prep work. I?ve found quite a number of parallels between Egyptian, Greco-Roman and Aztec mythological figures and my own creatures. I was looking for more references for the Sneak just now. Apart from the Hippocampus (detailed in previous post) I?ve found two Egyptian goddesses that I could use as references. Wadjet was said to be the patron and protector of Lower Egypt and upon unification with Upper Egypt, the joint protector and patron o, technorati.com
