For those who still believe that we somehow managed to avoid an economic depression this cycle because of a 13% fiscal deficit/GDP and a pregnant Fed balance sheet, the Center for Labour Market Studies at Northeastern University estimates that the real unemployment now stands at 18.2%, which is actually higher than the posted rate at the end of the 1930s., delicious.com

BBC's Mark Thompson overpaid, says shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt | Media | guardian.co.uk

Hunt told radio executives in Nottingham that a future Conservative government would be "wholeheartedly behind the digital switchover of the radio industry", while questioning whether the 2015 date set by Lord Carter's Digital Britain report last month was achievable. "I think 2015 is unrealistic unless we do more between now and 2015 than is currently planned. I would find it difficult to recommend to prime minister Cameron as things stand now that there should be switchoff in 2015," Hunt said. But he added that Digital Britain did not address the inadequacies of digital audio broadcasting - DAB - coverage, or who was going to pay to improve it. And he said while progress was being made to develop in-car digital radio, not enough was being done., delicious.com

Bargaining Power ?Workers? bargaining power for wages is evaporating,? said Ryan Sweet, an economist at Moody?s Economy.com in West Chester, Pennsylvania. ?Outright declines in wages could unravel the recent stabilization we?ve seen in consumer spending and home sales.? The average work week fell to 33 hours, the lowest level since records began in 1964, from 33.1 hours in May, today?s report showed. Average weekly hours worked by production workers rose to 39.5 hours from 39.4 hours, while overtime held at 2.8 hours. That brought the average weekly earnings down to $611.49 from $613.34., delicious.com

If we had single payer maybe Sarah Palin would still be taking her meds

1 Citation
The press has been speculating all weekend about why Sarah Palin resigned as governor of Alaska. What if there is no brewing scandal and this isn't about a run for president in 2012, what if our privatized health care system based on profits not compassion is so expensive that Palin had to choose between buying her prescriptions or being governor?, delicious.com
